Hoping New WordPress Site Gets Me Posting More Often

I recently made the change from my own powered website to a WordPress driven site. I did it for one reason, whilst I was happy with my own website, there was only one place I could write new posts and that was at home. Having a hand built site enabled me to have full control over the tags and images etc, but in the end I found that totally limiting, since when you aren’t always home when inspiration hits you.

Each page would need to be crafted, then copied to the blog page, then into an RSS page and so on. I’d work from home on the site, but getting new pages uploaded was just starting to slow me down too much. In the end I’ve found that I’m not really writing much these days, but I really want to be able to write more, much more.I’d used WordPress before, but wanted to have a bit more control. One of the other reasons I avoided WordPress or other content management systems up until now was that I’ve always found them a bit slow. The graph below shows how much slower my site is now I’m running WP.

But, I’m taking this with a pinch of salt. At the end of the day I want to write more about my recovery experience stopping drinking and try to help others who are either starting out or looking for tips or experiences from others in the same boat. Now I can catch the inspiration wherever I am and write away.

I get real pleasure from hearing from people either directly to my blog. What amazes me is how many people are out there and how many have experienced more or less the same. Years of trying, still trying in some cases, and those who have been able to give up drinking for a long time. This community has so much to offer. I only got started late, I’d already given up drinking by the time I decided to start this blog.

Giving up drink has been the best thing that has happened to me – life is so much more relaxed without alcohol. Now that I’m able to blog more, I hope I can write many more posts more quickly and easily.

Watch this space.

  1. just starting the process. As of today. have a girlfriend who is committed to stopping drinking as well. We decided to journal about it and compare notes every day. Very glad to read of your recovery process. Thanks for the inspiration.

    1. Hi Patricia, thanks for your comment and good luck with your journey. The start is always a bit hard at first, but then you’ll have each other to bounce off and keep on the straight and narrow. Are you going to be putting your experience into a blog as well? If so, let me know so I can follow you guys.

      Keep in touch,
